This filter press started life as a wine filter at a Mudgee winery. Some chopping & changing plus a fair bit of welding.

Plastic mesh overlaying 2 layers perforated Monel metal plate, separated by a Monel metal mesh.

Polypropylene cloth draped over plates. Plastic connectors keep tight pressure seal between cloth & metal, but allow clay slip to travel between plate cells.

Each side of a plate has a 25 mm depression. Water is forced under pressure through the cloth leaving the clay behind to gradually become stiffer.

The heavy screw forces the plates together, forming a pressure seal between them.

'Mono' pump, neoprene stator, stainless steel rotor, Works like an Archimedes screw. Air tank keeps clay liquid under constant pressure.
